Born and raised in Colombia, Iván is a musician, songwriter, producer, catholic speaker and teacher.
Iván began his college career at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia and completed both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts in choral conducting at Florida Atlantic University after moving to the U.S.
Iván has served as the choir director of NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference), music director of the NCCYM (National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry), and as a high school choral director. Songs from his first album, Honor y Gloria a Él, are included in several OCP collections, including: Bendito, Bendito; Entre Tus Manos; and El Señor Nos Invita vol. 3: Songs for Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. His most recent collection, Nuestra Alegría/Our Joy, contains Spanish and bilingual versions of English-language favorites, serving as a musical bridge for Hispanic and multicultural communities.
Iván is involved in national and diocesan youth conventions, Hispanic and multicultural conventions, music workshops and other events all across the country. He hopes that his music and testimony become instruments for all to experience the love of God. He currently lives in Miami, Florida, where he attends the Church of the Little Flower in Hollywood, Florida, and is the director of campus ministry at St. Thomas University.
In recent years, the composer of Colombian origin has been in constant contact with Catholic youth, participating in the last World Youth Day in Panama in January 2019, where he played the theme "Aquí Estoy/Here I Am,” with father Rob Galea, sponsored by the Ramón Pané Foundation and the WYD Theme Park, Cristonaut@s. The song has been downloaded by thousands of young Catholics around the world, thanks to its fusion of modern rhythms in songs that celebrate the Catholic faith.
